SUBARU Image Processor: Makali`i

Subaru Image Processor: Makali`i is the software which can analyze the FITS image (data) obtained with research observation including the Subaru Telescope. Anyone can use Makali`i without chagere for the non-commercial educational/out-reach/research purpose.

Makali`i Version 2.1 or later, anyone can use it without regsitration. User's registration is no longer required.

Makali`i is provided for free of charge, at the same time, the operation of this software is no guaranteed. Please use it at your own risk.

Makali`i can be operated on a personal computer (Ver.2.1 or later: Windows Vista/7/8/8.1/10).

* Environment of operation:: o Ver. 2.1 => Windows OS ( Windows Vista/7/8/8.1/10 )
* The main functions of Makali`i:: o Aperture Photometry (measuring the brightness of stars); o Astrometry; o Graph (makeing a location-count graph); o Arithmetic Operation on Image(s) (addition, subtruction, multiplication, division, ...); o Blink (displaying multiple images alternately); etc.

To use Makali`i, please download an installer (the English version : MklSetup.exe) from the following link.

When you click the link, you are asked whether you save the installer or not. Please save it in an appropriate folder (directory), and then, double-click the installer's icon (MklSetup.exe).

When you want to update the software, you need to uninstall the current version manually before installing the new version.

The origin of the name of "Makali`i"

"Makali`i" mean Pleiades (stellar open cluster, its Japanese name is "SUBARU") in the local language of Hawaii.

About FITS Image (Data)

Most of data for astronomical research are saved in FITS format. The 'Flexible Image Transport System' (FITS) is the standard data format used in astronomical research.
