[View] menu
[Contrast...]
This command sets the gradation level of the displayed image.
If the active image is a color image, you can set separate gradation levels for each of the RGB Channel.
This command does not change the image itself, but only adjusts the gradation level used when displaying the image on the monitor.
This means you don't have to use the [UNDO] menu to re-adjust the gradation level.
[Auto Adjust]
This command sets the Levels automatically according to the values specified in [Auto Contrast Setup...]. Histogram and [Minimum value][Maximum value] The Histogram of the active image is shown in the left upper area of the diagram. Adjust [Minimum value] and [Maximum value] by dragging the {bmc bm0.BMP} {bmc bm1.BMP} marks so you can clearly see the objects in the image. Use the [Widen Range?] and [Shrink Range?] buttons to zoom in and out of the histogram.
[Channel]
If the active image is a color image, you can set separate gradation levels for each of the RGB channel by clicking on these radio buttons.
[Widen][Shrink]Button
This command scales up and down the width of the Histogram. Use this command when making fine adjustments or setting the Range to a large value.
[Minimum value and Range]
By clicking this box, the [Maximum value] will change to [Range]. (Maximum value) will then equal (Minimum value) + (Range).[Auto Contrast]
This command sets the Levels automatically according to the values you specify in [Auto Contrast Setup...].
This command is useful when
i) To view the objects in a new image.
ii) To view objects after the gradation levels have been changed through processing.
iii) To adjust images before making a composite image.
[Auto Contrast Setup...]
This command sets the properties for [Auto Contrast].
(Minimum threshold) = (Mean count found repeating 3-SD clipping) - (Standard deviation found repeating 3-SD clipping) * (Minimum count)
(Maximum threshold) = (Mean count found repeating 3-SD clipping) + (Standard deviation found repeating 3-SD clipping) * (Maximum count)
For color images, you can adjust each RGB Channel. Set [Minimum value] and [Maximum value] from 0.1 to 50.0. Different objects require very different values. Find the appropriate value for each object. Makali`i saves this preference even after you shut Makali`i down.
[Minimum value]
This value is used to determine the Minimum threshold for the dark (left) side of the histogram. To decide what is an appropriate minimum value, consider the variance in brightness of tche image. This minimum value is multiplied by the standard deviation to find the Minimum threshold. All pixels below the determined Minimum threshold are displayed in black.
[Maximum value]
This value is used to determine the Maximum threshold for the bright (light) side of the histogram. To decide what is appropriate maximum value, consider the variance in brightness of the image. This maximum value is multiplied by the standard deviation to find the Minimum threshold. All pixels above the determined Maximum threshold are displayed in white.
[Color]
[Adjust each RGB level] This command adjusts separate gradation levels for each of the RGB Channels. [Adjust Luminosity] This command adjusts the gradation levels for all of the RGB Cannels simultaneously. [Set]Button This button sets minimum threshold and maximum threshold of the active image autpmaticaly using the parameters you have established.
Tips
If you use [Auto Contrast] or the [Set]Button when [Adjust each RGB level] is selected you will also get an approximate color balance. When [Adjust Luminosity] is selected, the color balance will not change.[Return to Initial Contrast]
This command returns the image to the gradation level at which it was opened.
[Log Scale]
If you use this command when there is no check mark on the menu, the image will be shown in Log Scale mode. It is easier to view high-contrast images in this Mode. If you use this command when there is a check mark on the menu, the image will be shown in Liner Scale mode.
In Log Scale mode, a Minimum Level Value of less than 0 is ignored and replaced with 1/100 of the Maximum Level Value. If Minimum Level Value and Maximum Level Value are both below 0 they will be ignored and replaced with 1 as a Minimum Level Value and 100 as a Maximum Level Value.
You can also perform these operations by clicking the Log check box on the Image bar.
[Color Mode]
This command changes the Color mode of the active image. For more details see: Color mode.
[Hide Marks...]
This command hides marks on the active image drawn by [Graph], [Aperture Photometry...] , [Rectangle Photometry...] and [Astrometry...].
