Color mode

Use the [Color Mode] dropdown menu on the Image Bar or the [Color Mode] in the [View] Menu to change the color mode of the active image. The following color modes are available:

Color

Displays a color image normally.

Color (Reverse)

Displays a color image with its gradation inverted.

Grayscale

Displays a grayscale image normally. Displays the brightness of a color image in shades of gray.

Grayscale (Reverse)

Displays a grayscale image with its shades inverted. Displays the inverted brightness of a color image in shades of gray.

Cyan

This mode can only be applied to a grayscale image. Displays the grayscale image in shades of cyan.

Cyan (Reverse)

This mode can only be applied to a grayscale image. Displays the grayscale image in shade of cyan with its brightness inversed.

Cinnabar

This mode can only be applied to a grayscale image. Displays the grayscale image in shades of cinnabar.

Cinnabar (Reverse)

This mode can only be applied to a grayscale image. Displays the grayscale image in shades of cinnabar with its brightness inversed.

Black Body Radiation

This mode can only be applied to a grayscale image. Displays the grayscale image in a black body radiation-like gradation. Though the color of a real black body radiation depends on the temperature of the black body, Makali`i determines the color based on the brightness of the pixels.

Black Body Radiation (Reverse)

This mode can only be applied to a grayscale image. Displays the grayscale image in a black body radiation-like gradation with its brightness inverted. Though the color of a real black body radiation depends on the temperature of the black body, Makali`i determines the color based on the (inverted) brightness of the pixels.

Rainbow

This mode can only be applied to a grayscale image. Displays the grayscale image with a rainbow gradation.

Rainbow (Reverse)

This mode can only be applied to a grayscale image. Displays the grayscale image with a rainbow gradation with its brightness inversed.

Pseudo-Spectra Color

This mode can only be applied to a grayscale FITS image with spectra information (a spectra image). Displays the brightness of the spectra image with colors appropriate to the wavelength. The ultraviolet and infrared region will be displayed in shades of gray.
